Its still too early to do much planting (we had snow flurries last night!) but today we started our first seeds inside. We aren’t growing most of the spring crops this year but I love green peas so I started two types of snap pea and one type of shelling (English) pea in flats. I am doing a bit of an experiment and started some of each in potting soil, seed starting mix and a 50/50 blend of seed starting mix and peat moss. The seed starting mix is pretty expensive so it’ll be interesting to see if the extra cost makes a difference in how well the seedlings do. I’ve set the tray on a heating mat and have lights in place for once they start to grow. I’ll report back once the plants have started to grow and I can judge any difference between the soil types!
